Nikki Kule was born into fashion.
Her father, Gene “King of Pants” Kule, created the brand Happy Legs with her mother, Arlene, in 1970s New York. Knowing she wanted to stay in the biz, Nikki attended Parsons and further honed her aesthetic by living in Paris, New York, and Rome. Following the birth of her first child, she saw an opportunity to create luxe childrenswear and launched KULE in 2001, becoming only the second childrenswear designer to be inducted into the CFDA. Following a stint as the Creative Director for kids at Brooks Brothers, Nikki shifted gears into womens, relaunching KULE in 2015 with a line of perfect stripe tees. Now that she’s dressing the whole family again with mens and kids, the brand has truly come full circle.
The collection has grown, but the design approach has remained the same: happy clothes, made with love, made to last.
What we do
We set out to make the perfect stripe tee, updating fit and fabric, all with a modern twist and a happy wink. Sure, you may find the occasional unexpected color combination or hidden cheeky detail, but our pieces are meant to live in your closet forever. We’ve applied this same design ethos to sweaters, socks, and everything else we make, all with the goal of making you smile. Our playful approach means there are many surprises still to come. Stay tuned!
How we do it
We work with small factories around the world who love our products as much as we do. From the family-owned facility in Portugal that produces our signature stripe tees to our 100-year-old American tote supplier, we produce pieces that will stand the test of time, making you smile for years to come.
With our Green Capsule, we use 100% organic yarns and recycled trims, all washed in recycled water, and we are constantly finding ways to incorporate our sustainability learnings into our entire supply chain. To learn more about our sustainability efforts, visit KULE Green.
Who we are
Based in New York, our independent team is small and scrappy, but we punch above our weight class. We love being a part of the small fashion business community in New York and collaborating with other like-minded friends and brands. Recent collabs have included Alix of Bohemia, prinkshop, Forsyth, and Dempsey & Carroll. And we have some new fun projects in the works!
So, that’s us, and we’re happy to have you here 🙂
