BEHIND THE SEAMS
KULE has collaborated with Alix of Bohemia on a limited run of our signature Boyfriend shirt, each hand-embroidered with a daisy motif. Nikki met Alix, who lives in Mallorca, at a shop in NYC. Later, they met up for dinner in Mallorca and that's where their friendship began. Following an event together last fall, the two designers wanted to develop a special product that would incorporate the playful classics of KULE with the handcraft and folk art traditions of Alix of Bohemia. This shirt is a marriage of the two aesthetics.
ABOUT THE TEE
Each flower appliqué is individually cut, pieced, and stitched by hand in Alix of Bohemia’s Brooklyn atelier. The hand embroidery takes 4-6 hours to complete for just one shirt and because of the individual nature of the work, each piece is one-of-a-kind.
The daisy motif was inspired by the iconic costumes of Marcel Marceau, as well as the exploded floral motifs of 1970s Marimekko and Ossie Clark.

ABOUT ALIX OF BOHEMIA
The offspring of an Italian textile legacy and generations of French artists, it was at University in Scotland that Alix Verley-Pietrafesa picked up a needle and began making clothes by hand, inspired by the mid-century Bohemians of Paris and the Bloomsbury Group.
Seeking to create pieces which reflected the free-spirited muses of her studies and facilitated adventure, Alix of Bohemia was born in London in 2009. The last decade has seen Alix living and working in Europe, Asia and the US. Her far-flung travels, stories, techniques and textiles are the canvas of her collections.
Alix currently lives between New York and Mallorca, where she sews daily in her Ateliers with her team, producing limited runs and one of a kind pieces. In 2018, Alix of Bohemia expanded beyond her bespoke pieces, and introduced a RTW collection.
